miracle
[Noun]
Why do Christians believe in miracles?
A miracles is extraordinary event that is inexplicable by scientific or natural laws and often attributed to divine intervention. In Christianity, to see a miracle is to see the sacred in our everyday lives. Miracles come to us all, restoring hope and inviting us to do the same.
Jesus miracles and everyday healing
Turning water into wine, multiplying loaves and fishes to feed thousands of people, and restoring sight to a blind man were some of the first miracles Jesus performed in his time. These miracles in the Bible reveal a new depth to God’s compassion.
Today, miracles continue to happen if we are open to seeing them. For example, an answered prayer of a mother seeing her daughter live another day; a cocoon transforming into a majestic butterfly; an unexpected medical cure; or a broken relationship healed.
Miracles remind us that God is always present, helping us live through another day, another storm, another war, another challenge. Miracles, combined with our faith, remind us to never lose hope, for ourselves and for others.
In God’s eyes, we are all miracles. And the moment we open our eyes and witness God’s endless love, we will begin to see all kinds of miracles too.
Dear God,
Thank you for giving me the miracle of life. I have seen and known of Your miracles throughout my life, but sometimes I fail to see them in the lives of others. Open my eyes to see you in the doctor saving someone’s life through a difficult surgery. Or a mother caring for her ill child. A service dog caring for a human. Miracles are everywhere so please deepen my faith and open my heart to them.
What miracles did you experience today?
“Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.”
– C.S. Lewis
