spiritual restoration
[Verb]
To restore is to return to an original state. But what does that look like in our spiritual lives? As we go through life’s inevitable ups and downs, we are reminded that it is God who renews us: bringing us back to our truest selves and showing us who we are called to be.
How to be restored spiritually?
It can be easy to fix what is broken, return what has been lost, and restore what has been turned off. But unlike a broken vase or an electrical outage, the aching wounds we carry in our hearts need a deeper, more internal restoration. They need faith and trust, too.
As we look over the joys and heartbreaks of our lives, we may feel tempted to give up hope. We tell ourselves that we are not worthy, that our wounds are too big for God, that we are beyond repair. But the Bible has many stories of healing and restoration. Even the angel Gabriel tells us: Nothing is impossible for God.
So remember: what keeps you awake at night is not greater than the God who sustains you (or the good shepherd who leads you home). And when the dawn breaks, God’s endless love will still be there.
Dear God,
Our world needs You more than ever. We need your guidance, and your protection. Our hearts need to be restored with your love and presence. Help me seek you every day, every time, in my good days and when everything around me seems to crumble. Hold me when I feel I can’t keep going seeing all the injustices in the world. Restore my soul, my home, my family and my neighbors. I know nothing is impossible for You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
