resurrection
[noun]
To be restored to life. For Christians, death is not the end, but a transformation toward eternal life. Jesus conquered death with his resurrection. His resurrection brings the promise of new beginnings and calls us to live this promise in our everyday lives.
The resurrection of Jesus is not only an event of the past, it can also be experienced in us with every step we take toward hope, in every wound we heal, and in every decision we make to love again.
Here are five everyday definitions of resurrection:
Rebirth: Starting over after a major change in our lives. A rebirth makes us feel like new people.
Transformation: Allowing change to happen from within, and then spreading outwardly. Transformation redefines who we are.
A new beginning: Starting from scratch, with new energy, new opportunities, and a renewed spirit. A new beginning brings us peace.
A second chance: Trying again when things don’t work out. A second chance allows us to redeem ourselves.
Hope: Believing in what is possible even when it seems impossible. Hope brings new life.
Dear God,
Sometimes it is hard to understand Your ultimate sacrifice and act of love for us. Your resurrection is a reminder of the hope for a new and eternal life. Help us keep that faith and hope in our hearts so that we can live that resurrection in our lives and in our relationships until we meet with You in eternity. Amen.
