reconciliation
[noun]
The act of seeking or making amends. When we repent from the heart, in forgiveness and absolution, we find the opportunity to start anew. For Catholics, reconciliation offers forgiveness of our sins, restoring divine grace and communion with God and the Church.
The sacrament of reconciliation is one of the most beautiful sacraments, as it offers us the opportunity to encounter God’s grace by drawing close to Him in an intimate and unique way.
In reconciliation, we find the peace that only God can give us, and we recognize in ourselves our capacity to forgive. By being truthful, we are opening our arms to God’s merciful embrace and restoring our trust with God and with the Church. Reconciliation brings peace to our conscience. It is a balm for our soul and a protective shield against what harms us.
The sacrament of reconciliation also plays a central role before Easter. When we prepare our hearts with an examination of conscience, repent, and confess sincerely, we can experience the full joy of forgiveness and live with a lighter heart.
Dear God,
You know me better than anyone else. You know my deepest struggles and challenges. I come to You with a contrite heart. Please forgive my trespasses and give me the strength I need to stop making the same mistakes. I want to get closer to You and stay away from things that distract me. Cleanse my mind and heart. Remove from my life everything and everyone that does not help me get closer to You and Your divine plan for me. Amen.
Where do you seek forgiveness?
