generosity
[noun]
The act of giving freely for the benefit of people, nations, or living things. Generosity is a disposition of the heart that mirrors God’s abundant love and self-giving. Generosity is a humble and contagious act influenced by empathy, compassion, and mercy.
True giving comes from the heart. We are stewards of God’s wealth, an invaluable wealth that He has deposited in our life savings account. When we understand this, giving generously becomes something fulfilling and rewarding beyond recognition. It is a feeling of peace that feeds our soul, helping us grow closer to God.
Generosity is often linked to sharing material things, like money or possessions; however, generosity is also time, encouragement, and emotional availability. It might be the need for a hug, or the need for a companion who listens without judgement. It may also be the need for guidance to help you figure out an overwhelming situation.
A generous heart listens as God listens, loves as God loves, and gives as God gives.
Dear God,
Thank You for being so generous with me, by blessing me abundantly with life, friendships, and the things that matter. Help me be a good steward of my health, my family and the finances you have blessed me with. Continue to guide me to be attentive to the needs of others, so that I can be a reflection of Your love, peace and abundant life. Amen.
Remember, what has been the most generous act you’ve received? How can you do the same?
