love
[noun; verb]
An intense feeling of deep affection and care for someone. In Christianity, love is defined as a spiritual gift, one that transforms all forms of love into a reflection of God’s mercy and faithfulness. God is love, and love is everything and everywhere.
Love is something we all long for. In our modern culture, we are so bombarded with ideas of what love should be that it can be easy to lose sight of all the ways love is expressed around us. We can find love in a stranger’s smile, in listening quietly, in an unexpected compliment. Love is a prayer someone says for you. Love is a favorite dish someone prepares for you. Love is advocating for justice and the dignity of all people.
Love is the greatest divine gift. It is a driving force that motivates us to continue living, fighting for our ideals, and caring for all those around us. God created us with such selfless and pure love, and that love lives within us. We are all called to share our love freely.
Dear God,
Thank you for loving me the way you do and for showing me what true love is even when sometimes I don’t understand it. My references of human love have not always been the most reliable, but then You come and teach me that love does not hurt, that love is kind and truthful, that love is all around me and it is a beautiful reminder of Your love for me.
How did God’s love show up for you today?
