silencio

Silence is the absence of sound or noise. In many faith traditions, silence is a spiritual practice that fosters a relationship with God. This kind of stillness prepares the heart to receive divine wisdom, promoting spiritual growth and a deeper understanding of oneself and the world.

The world feels deafening sometimes, and it is in that noise that our souls seek God. We close our eyes, quiet our minds, and try to draw closer. In that silence, God finds us,  too. Perhaps in our minds we see God on the mountain peak or sitting on the tallest rock next to a river stream or walking by our side in the forest. No matter where, God is all always with us.

When our hearts feel troubled and life is happening all at once, we may feel the need to pull away from the crowds and find a quiet place. Perhaps  a peaceful walk in nature, or sitting and contemplating what is right in front of us, is what our soul needs. In the absence of all that noise, we can hear ourselves., in that quiet space is God’s whisper, guiding us. Stillness reveals where we need God the most. And, in silence, we find peace.

Oración del día

Querido Dios,

When my heart feels heavy and I look for You in a quiet space, you are there by my side, and that is all I need. I need to find You in the silence of Your creation, in the quietness of my thoughts, and in this troubled heart that needs Your comfort and guidance. Thank you for guiding me to the stillness of Your presence. Amen.

How do you practice silence   every day?

“The fruit of silence is prayer. The fruit of prayer is faith. The fruit of faith is love. The fruit of love is service. The fruit of service is peace.”

-Mother Teresa of Calcutta
