Today, July 16, 2025, we gathered to honor a profound legacy: the 176th anniversary of the founding of the Claretian Missionaries. It was a moment not only to celebrate our history, but also to reflect on the mission that continues to guide us: serving those most in need, with courage and compassion.

Father Paul Keller, CMF, our Provincial, echoed that spirit by highlighting the Claretian tradition of going where others will not — and doing the work others often overlook. Since their arrival in the United States, the Claretians have walked alongside Hispanic and Spanish-speaking communities, responding to their spiritual and social needs with unwavering dedication. That mission continues today and has now expanded into Canada, where the Claretians are also serving English- and French-speaking communities with the same commitment to presence, compassion, and outreach.

He shared the moving example of a new Claretian mission in the Pacific Northwest, in Whantom County, Washington near the Canadian border. In this underserved region, where no Spanish-speaking priests had been available, Fathers Manuel Villalobos, CMF, and Gerardo Rodríguez, CMF, are now serving the community, offering the sacraments and restoring hope and dignity.

The celebration was made even more special by the heartfelt speech of Father Byron, CMF, who reminded us that this mission is alive — rooted in love, community, and bold faith. His words touched on the resilience of the Claretian spirit, and the joy of serving, even in the most difficult circumstances.

As we gathered in prayer, laughter, and reflection, we were reminded that the Claretian story is not just a history — it’s a living call to action. A call to go forth with courage, to serve with humility, and to keep dreaming of a more just and compassionate world.

Happy Founders Day to all our Claretian brothers and sisters around the world. May we continue to be light for others — just as St. Anthony Mary Claret envisioned.
