At an official celebration hosted by Bank of America on November 18, 2025, Claretian Associates was named one of the bank’s 2025 Neighborhood Builders, alongside Aspire of Illinois. The recognition honors nonprofit organizations whose work creates lasting economic and social impact in the communities they serve. Initially founded by the Claretian Missionaries of the USA-Canada Province, Claretian Associates operates as an independent non-profit with its own leadership and vision.

The awards ceremony was held at the Bank of America Tower in Chicago, where Angela Hurlock, CEO of Claretian Associates, accepted a $200,000 grant on behalf of the organization. Representing the Claretian Missionaries and offering our support was Fr. Paul Keller, CMF, Provincial Superior.
“Aspire and Claretian Associates are deeply woven into the fabric of our community, providing supportive services that create economic opportunity for individuals and families. Through flexible funding and comprehensive leadership training, the Neighborhood Builders program will help them expand, addressing even more critical needs and helping more families access the support they need to thrive.” – Rita Cook, Bank of America Chicago President
Claretian Associates, founded in 1991 as a faith-based community development corporation by the Claretian Missionaries in South Chicago, has spent decades working alongside residents to improve quality of life through affordable housing and community-centered development. Since its incorporation, the organization has served thousands of families each year and has played a key role in building and sustaining stable neighborhoods on Chicago’s South Side.
As part of the Neighborhood Builders program, Claretian Associates will receive funding over two years, along with leadership training and access to a national network of nonprofit peers. The grant will support the growth of its real estate team, helping the organization respond to increasing housing needs and new opportunities for development in South Chicago, including projects that promote long-term stability for families and the broader community.
“It’s been a lot of years that we’ve been working on improving the quality of life and improving to make our community a community of choice, not one of last resort. This allows us to have greater visibility to be able to garner greater partnerships and resources and opportunities to be able to continue to take our work to the next level.” – Angela Hurlock, CEO

This recognition affirms the mission-driven work of Angela Hurlock and her team, and highlights the continued commitment of Claretian Associates to serve with faith, vision, and dedication. We congratulate Claretian Associates on this well-deserved honor and celebrate the ongoing impact of their presence in the neighborhoods they serve.
