belief
[noun]
The acceptance or trust in something or someone. A gift from God, our faith is an ever-evolving journey as we explore what we believe in and deepen our relationship with God. No matter our circumstances or status in life, God continually invites us to believe.
Our faith, and what we believe about God, naturally change over our lives. What we believe as children is not usually what we believe as adults. That is why we call faith a journey. It accompanies us as we walk through the mountains and valleys of our lives as well as the deserts.
Our relationship with God is shaped by these lived experiences. Our beliefs may also be guided by our faith communities, scholarship or tradition. Our beliefs may also be questioned, or even threatened. They may be inspired by the people around us, or fueled by the presence (or absence) of mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and love.
Wherever our faith journey takes us, or however our beliefs evolve, the invitation remains the same: How can we draw closer to the source of all life and love?
Dear God,
Thank you for Your patience and Your love. Life’s challenges sometimes make me doubt and stray from you, but like a good shepherd, you wait for me, seek me out, and guide me. Help me to not lose faith. Continue to guide me and show me Your grace in the mountains and deserts of my life. May I recognize that even on the rockiest road, You are there guiding me and giving me strength to continue. Amen.
