joy

A deep feeling of delight and contentment that is rooted in a sense of peace and well-being. Joy does not depend on what is—or is not—happening in our lives. It lives within us as an expression of God’s love for us and our love for God.

Joy can sometimes feel like an unachievable task or even a mystery. How do we find it? How do we keep it? Why do others seem so content (and not us)?

Theologians remind us that finding joy is a spiritual practice that requires us to dedicate time each day to reflect on how God’s love is present in our lives. It can be as simple as a heartfelt text message or as profound as a moment of forgiveness.

Joy is not the absence of suffering, but the ability and commitment to see the sacred. We know God walks with us through the mountains and valleys of our lives. He is with us in our triumphs and defeats. Trusting in God’s endless love can become a wellspring of joy.

Prayer for Today

Dear God,

Help me find joy today. I want to see you and find you in every moment, in every person, in every situation, even if it is hard. I want to keep the joy of life in my heart, as it helps me realize I am alive and you are in me and with me. Feeling joyful keeps my spirit and love for life alive. Amen.

Look around , what gives you joy today?

“These things I have spoken to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.”

John 15:11
