courage

Courage is not the absence of fear, but taking action in spite of it. Living courageously is a decision and a reflection of our faith. God calls us to live courageously and face life with the strength and courage He has given us.

Fear can be a powerful catalyst for courage. We all experience fear every day—fear of death, fear of losing our loved ones, fear of failure. However, because we cannot live in this emotional roller coaster for long, fear gives us a choice: stay afraid or be courageous.

When we choose to act with courage, the spirit of God ignites a fire within us, helping us  tame our fears and face every obstacle that comes our way, no matter how big it may seem. We face fears with faith, with love, and with trust.

Every day we have the opportunity to take firm and intentional steps with what we have and what we know to be true: God loves us and walks with us. Like Scripture reminds us, God “has given us a spirit of power, love, and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:9)

Prayer for Today

Dear God,

Thank you for being with me through all the ups and downs of  life, especially when I have hit rock bottom. Your light has strengthened me so many times, and has given me the courage to keep going, despite my many fears. Continue taking my hand when I feel weak and  can’t seem to find the exit or the solution to the challenges of life. Amen.

How do you find courage to keep going?

“Be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9
