What is the definition of grace?
Un estado mental tranquilo, libre de preocupaciones y perturbaciones. Una elegancia sencilla, un regalo inesperado o un efecto agradable. La gracia a menudo nos toma por sorpresa porque es un regalo de Dios, dado libremente y sin condiciones. La gracia de Dios nos recuerda cuánto nos ama e invita a amar de la misma manera.
How to find God’s grace
Sometimes, divine grace finds us. It can take many forms: forgiveness, mercy, justice. Like a blessing, God’s grace is shared without favor. Yet, every moment can become an opportunity for us to see God’s presence in our lives. This is what St. Ignatius taught in the 1500s and it still applies today.
St. Ignatius believed that God can be found in all things, at any time, in any place. From the morning chorus of birds to the lilies of the valley, from a moment of triumph to our experiences of defeat, God is here with us. According to St. Ignatius, “all things are presented to us so that we can know God more easily and make a return of love more readily.”
What God’s grace asks of us
God’s grace requires our participation. When we welcome in God’s grace, we are invited to share that same love and mercy with the people in our life that we like and the people we do not like so much. Grace open our hearts, and grace (like God) always embraces and uplifts. Grace never discriminates.
