rest

To pause work, activity, or movement—and be still. Rest is essential to our faith, helping us draw closer to God, refreshing our spirit, and renewing our trust in God’s boundless love. It can be challenging, but even God rested, so we can rest too.

We live fast. We think fast. We pray fast. Even our food is fast.

Resting in God is the exact opposite. It is about stopping,  trusting, and not giving up. Rest nourishes the deeper longings of our souls by recharging our weary bodies, unburdening our minds, and reconnecting our hearts with the heart of God.

When we rest in God, we invite God to see us and love us as we are: tired, scared, lonely, confused. We don’t have to prove our worth, our piety, or our strength. God already knows. We just need to slow down long enough to put our trust back in God and embrace that nap, that walk at sunset, or that moment of silence we crave.

The more we create space to be still, the more we hear God’s voice calling  us. Not in haste or in the constant demand to produce more, but simply in love.

Prayer for Today

Dear God,

Open Your arms so I can rest in You, because my heart and soul need emotional rest.Help me stop my restless mind, and the need to be busy. Help me honor my body and soul in a peaceful space where I can rest in You, recharge my soul and give priority to what matters most. Amen.

How will you rest today?

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28
