fear

Fear is an unpleasant emotion, also defined as a feeling of anxiety caused by a real or imagined risk or harm. Fear can blind us and leave us feeling lost. Fear can also remind us to invite God in and trust in His love, power, and mercy.

Fear is a natural human emotion; the problem arises when it takes hold of us and prevents us from moving forward. Always remember, though, that with God we never walk alone. God takes us by the hand to face adversity. We are also stronger than we think. Our faith has the power to overcome life’s obstacles.

Here are five simple yet powerful ways to face our fears:

  1. Breathe. Fear dissolves when you connect with your body.
  2. Name it. When you say, “I’m afraid of…” the monster gets smaller.
  3. Take action. Don’t wait for fear to go away—walk with it.
  4. Give it to God. We are not alone. God walks beside us.
  5. Look for love. Surround yourself with people who lift you up.

Remember: Fear cannot survive where there is love, and God is love.

Prière pour aujourd’hui

Oh mon Dieu

Thank you for being the guiding light through the darkness of my fears. You have shown me that only through you all my anxieties disappear if I trust in your power. Help me let go of wanting to control everything and accept that life is beautiful as is. Help me understand that I am only human yet I can overcome all things with You. Amen.

What helps you  face your fears?

Do not fear, I am with you; do not be anxious, I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
