Rome, Italy. The Superior General of the Claretian Missionaries recently released an announcement letter on May 31, 2023, on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation. The letter expresses gratitude to God for the gift of their charism and encourages members to revive the original spirit of their Founder, St. Anthony Mary Claret.
The letter highlights that Jubilee is a time of grace and growth for the Congregation in her charismatic spirit and apostolic vitality. It invites members to take a closer look at how they are living out their charism in fidelity to the original spirit according to the signs of their time. The Congregational history is one of an ongoing journey adapting to changes in the world and listening to God’s callings.
The Superior General acknowledges that what they are today is a fruit of God’s amazing grace, faithful witness of brothers in times past, ever-present spirit of their Founder, and ardent prayers of many dear people. With grateful hearts, members are encouraged to “re-member” themselves to the heavenly community of so many exemplary brothers who gave their best and left a legacy for them to treasure and carry forward.
The letter outlines various programs and events that will take place during the Jubilee year, including short videos on different phases in Congregational history, short videos on mission, publication and distribution of books. Additionally, there will be various programs at the initiative of Major Organisms and communities such as Spirituality Congress at Vic from 7-15 July 2024 followed by Vigil Service on 15 July 2024 concluding with Jubilee Conclusion on 16 July 2024.
