“As Claretians we dedicate our whole lives to offering the word of God to others. We offer it to those who have everything and to those who have nothing.”

Rev. Vicente Sanz Tobes, CMF

Madrid, Spain

Founded in 1849 by Saint Anthony Mary Claret, a Spanish missionary, the Claretian Missionaries number more than 3000 priests, brother and lay volunteers, who can be found in more than 63 countries around the world. We have been active in the United States since 1902 and today comprise a single USA-CANADA Province headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with ministries in California, Illinois, New Jersey and Texas in the United States; Montréal, Sherbrooke, Victoriaville (Québec), Vancouver, Ottawa and Gloucester (Ontario) in Canada; and a mission in Ciudad Juárez (Chihuahua), México.

Committed to seeing the world through the eyes of the poor, the Claretians strive to respond to the most urgent and timely needs, using all means possible. We give special attention to the needs of recent immigrants, youth and families, leadership and training and spiritual renewal.

Since the Claretian Missionaries do not limit their apostolates to one humanitarian or educational field, to one strata of society, or to one geographical area, they exemplify the same universal spirit of their Founder, canonized in 1950.

Our motto is “The Love of Christ Impels Us.”
